Ice Cream – Kind

Look, it’s not all fun and games in this province lately.

There’s serious discussions to be had and hard (and sometimes very obvious and easy) choices to make.

And while they’re all worth talking about, today I’m referring to… Ice Cream.

Hand made. Artisanally crafted. Cold. Sugary. Any flavour you can think of. There are several small and mid-scale makers right here in the province! I will give shout outs, but I cannot play favourites, and these aren’t official advertisements. Just what me and the kids and (romantic) partners like.

Most modern companies have plenty of standard flavours with high quality ingredients, and the good ones will have gluten-free and vegan options, so there’s something for everyone. Unless you’re zero sugar. Then off you go to plain frozen yogurtville.

Today, we’re talking about Kind Ice Cream in Edmonton. Currently 3 locations in the YEG core along with delivery and catering, yadda yadda.

Kind touts itself as women owned and run, which is some good mojo, along with their pretty awesome set of flavours. Besides their very day flavours, they feature 2 monthly ones for dairy and 1 for vegan, which offer a good variety.

For the standards: I love their mint chip (very minty), L their disco cookie dough, partner V goes for the exotic stuff, mini-me loves… anything but mostly salted caramel just like my partner C, while his brother M loves birthday cake and brother B loves cookies and cream. And that’s still only half of what Kind has!

But I have to be honest. What really stands out at Kind in particular are the hand made waffle cones. Crispy, sugary, and if you’re lucky, still warm. They are super hard to beat. I’d know, I’ve had a pile of cones in my day.

Truly, we live in ice cream blessed times if nothing else, which makes the other harder stuff easier to get through.

Be Kind, babies. Go support your local stand or parlor!

You were right in our neck of the woods! We should get the kids ice cream together sometime. ☺️
